Bridgwater Bay A Tidal Lagoon for Somerset – Thursday 25th June

Bridgwater Bay: A Tidal Lagoon for Somerset

A Presentation by Steve Mewes of Tidal Lagoon Power

At Creative Innovation Centre, Paul Street, Taunton, TA13PF

Thursday 25 June at 7.30pm

Tidal Lagoon Power’s mission is to drive a critical change in the UK’s energy mix by developing infrastructure to harness natural power from the rise and fall of the tides. Their first project, Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay, establishes a scalable blueprint and they aim to develop, construct and operate a fleet of tidal lagoons to meet up to 8% of UK electricity demand.
Steve Mewes is Consultation Manager for the Tidal Lagoon Power company, meeting with people in Somerset to tell them about early stage plans for a potential Bridgwater Bay Lagoon whilst gathering feedback on people’s views. Born and bred in nearby Wedmore, Steve has been a keen environmentalist for many years setting up Wedmore Green Group in 2006 and was Director of Wedmore Community Power Co-Op which built the county’s first community solar paddocks in 2013.
